After a fateful visit to Kettles Yards, the home of famed art collection John Ede, Max Wildman aka “Old Jack” developed an enduring fascination for the life and artwork of Alfred Wallis. After a period of keen study was made of the Wallis’ methods, techniques and materials, Wildman started experimenting and painting out of curiosity using the same materials and techniques that Wallis used.It was not long before commissions were being taken from a growing clientele to produce works that were quite intentionally in the style of Alfred Wallis.
